Gilded skyscrapers/buildings showcasing the pride and prestige of lower Manhattan are the result of indomitable spirit of human endeavor and the sweat and ultimate suffering of the slaves and indentured labors employed to build them.

Original inhabitants of the Manhattan Island, ‘Lenape’ have been displaced by the Dutch around 1600s and built a fortified town ‘New Amsterdam’ in the southern tip of Manhattan Island, only to be replaced by the British a few years later and the name changed to ‘New York’.

Waves of immigration into New York in phases from Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and other parts of the world helped New York to catapult into a global city replacing London over a period of time.

Along with economic prosperity, cultural & musical advancements and abolishing slavery and upholding human rights made the city a great place to live for every race in this world.

To replicate the development in Manhattan, the New York city has been expanded by including nearby boroughs Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island. As on date, New York’s GDP is more than the entire country of Canada (second biggest economy in North America).

Metro systems in New York covers all the boroughs like a cobweb and one can easily travel from one end to another without much hassle, but it requires modern rolling stocks and modernization of the old stations to keep abreast of the world class cities.

We got an opportunity to go around the city in daytime and in nights and I am happy to share the photos of the city skylines.
